First edition of the author's third novel, signed 'John Galsworthy' on the dedication page.The author's first work to make reference to the Forsyte family, who later served as the basis of the Forsyte Saga. John Sinjohn was the early pen name of the Nobel Prize-winning writer John Galsworthy; the pseudonym was abandoned the following year.
First edition, sole impression, signed by the author; 8vo; scattered light spotting, predominantly to endpapers, library bookplate to front pastedown, ownership signature to front free endpaper; publisher's red cloth, black titles on a white ground to spine and upper cover, spine a little toned, cloth marked, corners and spine ends slightly rubbed, spine very slightly cocked, else very good; housed in custom maroon chemise and quarter maroon morocco gilt slipcase, lightly rubbed.
