The maps include: the globe on Mercator's projection showing all of Britain's territories in red, America as 26 states plus Florida and the 'North Western Territory' (Wisconsin), British India as a double sheet, a map of ancient Palestine with each region of the twelve tribes (Isrealites) delineated, Europe with the Austrian Empire and Prussia at the height of their powers, and several of Central America to show British territories such as Trinidad and Demerara.
4to (40 x 28 cm); 46 double-page engraved maps hand coloured in outline, with India being a folding two-sheet, by John Dower, lithographed title, contents leaf, armorial bookplate to pastedown with previous ownership inscription to bookplate and title, the very occasional spot; contemporary full red morocco by Barritt & Co. with heavily embossed boards, spine lettered in gilt in six blind stamped compartments, all edges gilt, a very good copy.
