A collection of speeches - one notably by James Baldwin - made at a fundraising event in support of the Soledad Brothers, three black men imprisoned at Soledad State Prison accused of killing a white prison guard. Their case, marked by scant evidence, became a rallying point for activists who saw it as emblematic of institutional racism within the American prison system. Angela Davis emerged as a prominent figure within the movement.

First edition; (220 x 170 mm, 8¾ x 6¾ in); wire-stitched red printed wrappers, fine; 36pp.
