'You know the old woman who lived in a shoe?'

'Beatrix Potter had always been interested in traditional rhymes... but the majority of the Appley Dapply rhymes were of her own composition' (Linder, 225)

First Edition; 16mo (108 x 127 mm); with colour frontispiece & 14 colour plates, title-page vignette, ink gift inscription to half-title, dated May 15th 1918, slight age-toning to paper stock (as usual), a few very minor flecks but in otherwise near-fine; publisher's light green boards stamped in red, colour paste-down of Appley Dapply; variant binding as noted by Quinby, just a hint of wear to spine ends and corners, otherwise an exceptionally good copy; 53 pp.
