A fresh example of this collection of forty-eight deftly hand-coloured plates by Julien-Léopold Boilly (1796-1874) showing the costumes of Italy. With a signed presentation inscription by 'Daudet L'aine'.Published in eight issues.
First edition; folio (36 x 29 cm); 48 hand-coloured lithograph plates by Engelmann after Boilly, engraved title, signed presentation inscription by the publisher, bookplate to front pastedown, title a little soiled with a couple of small marginal tears, plates fine and fresh; later quarter-calf, marbled boards, gilt tooled flat spine with gilt morocco lettering piece, later marbled endpapers, a touch of light rubbing otherwise a very good copy.
