In 1965, Burroughs and Gysin made a series of rubbings from the tiles in room 712 at the Chelsea Hotel. Some of these rubbings were issued in the 14 deluxe copies (10 lettered A-J, 4 hors commerce), while others included one of Gysin's calligraphic drawings. In the note on the folder, Gysin explains that the present example belongs to the same series of rubbings but remained separate.

Single leaf of white paper (280 x 216 mm) with oil pastel tile rubbings in black and grey, signed 'Gysin '65' in black ink. In a manilla file folder with Gysin's autograph note in black ink dated March 27 1979.
