Harry Stuart Latham (1912 – 1993), English theatre and film actor, director and television producer.
The play was first produced at the Mercury Theatre, London, on 26 February 1937, with incidental music by Benjamin Britten conducted from the piano by Brian Easdale. Directed by Rupert Doone (1903 – 1966), a British dancer, choreographer, theatre director, and teacher.
First edition, inscribed by both Isherwood and Auden, as well as the director of the first performance, Rupert Doone, to the actor Stuart Latham; 8vo (225 x 145 mm); age toning to papers; publisher's blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, extremities and spine very darkened, stain to base of spine encroaching on base of boards but not inside, inner hinges strengthened, overall good and internally near-fine.
