Illustrated by G. Lilian Bright.
Stock Code 123597
London, Wertheimer, Lea & Co., 1907.
May Henry first published The Economical Jewish Cook in 1897. This was "a modern orthodox recipe book for young housekeepers".
Following the success of that first publication Ms Henry teamed up with her sister, Kate Halford, to publish the offered work, which was intended to "cater for a class to which the other book did not appeal, by reason of the rigid economy necessary in recipes written primarily for Board School Cookery Classes."
This book contains twelve Sample Menus - one for each month of the year, richer recipes arranged by food groups and a small chapter on Passover Cookery.
Second edition, 8vo, (18.5 x 12 cm); publisher's pictorial indigo cloth boards, corners rubbed, clean pages, first 10 and last 5 pp. are ads; ii-x, [6] 191 pp.
Bibliography of Cookery Books Published in Britain 1875-1914 by Elizabeth Driver, pages 321-322.
