These two volumes were bound in black morocco for the Lord Commissioners of the Admiralty, with both featuring an admiralty insignia in gilt (a foul anchor surrounded by the inscription 'SIGIL : OFFI : MAG : ADMIR : MAG : BR : &C') on their front boards.
New impression; 2 vols, 8vo (20 x 14 cm); admiralty bookplate to front pastedown, marbled endpapers, frontispiece portrait of Sir Francis Drake in the first volume and Elizabethan galleon in the second; bound in black panelled morocco with raised bands for the Lord Commissioners of the Admiralty, naval centrepiece in gilt to front boards, spine in 6 compartments with gilt lettering to second and third, gilt decoration to others, all edges gilt, interior dentelle gilt borders, some general signs of wear, joints slightly rubbed, a very handsome set; [xvi], 415; 462 pp.
