First edition, first printing, the author's copy annotated for the revised edition; 8vo; 16 black and white illustrations, including frontispiece, music scores in black and white, annotated and corrected throughout in the author's hand with additional amendments loosely inserted, light stain to p31; publisher's maroon cloth, gilt lettering to spine, spine slightly rolled, bright yellow endpapers, with the unclipped dustjacket, some toning and soiling, a few short closed tears to extremities, rear panel torn at joint, else very good.
