The Caretaker was Pinter's first commercial success, first performed at the Arts Theatre, London on 27th of April 1960. The Methuen edition was published simultaneously in wrappers and boards, following the publication of the first edition by Encore that same year.
First Methuen edition, paperback issue, inscribed by the author; 8vo; short closed tear to fore-edge of p81, else unmarked internally; publisher's photo-pictorial wrappers, priced '3s 6d' on lower wrapper, a little rubbing and soiling to wrappers, but a very good copy.
