A charming example in half gilt vellum.

The Compleat Angler was first published in 1653, but Walton continued to add to it for a quarter of a century. It is a celebration of the art and spirit of fishing in prose and verse. The Major edition is considered to be the definitive edition.

8vo (22.5 x 15 cm); engraved in-text illustrations, title printed in red and black, slight spotting; contemporary half vellum, marbled boards ruled in gilt, gilt spine in 6 ompartments, contrasting brown morocco lettering-piece, top-edge gilt others uncut, spine a little faded, slightly soiled and rubbed, very good.
