With an interesting provenance. Sir Henry Ponsonby was Keeper of the Privy Purse and Private Secretary to HM Queen Victoria from 1870 until his retirement through ill health in 1895. Lady Ponsonby, née the Hon. Mary Bulteel, was one of the Queen's Maids of Honour (junior to a Lady-in-Waiting) when she married Sir Henry in 1861.
