Scarce early edition. This second edition was published in both 1854 and 1855. This is the first variant in 1854 and contains the coloured frontispiece of the coats of arms of the various Swiss Cantons. This is also one of the last editions to contain engraved views. Rare.

Second edition. xxxvi, 368pp, chromolithographed frontispiece, 5 maps, 4 plans, including one map pasted down on front endpaper, one coloured view of the Alps, one panorama, 16 lithographed views, minor spotting throughout, ink signature on endpaper; publisher's original red old-style cloth binding, gilt lettered, spine faded, ; a very good copy.
