A scarce first edition. The United States was the first Baedeker originally written in English by J. F. Muirhead, the English editor of the Baedeker Guides. He later published his own series of guidebooks.Issued c.1893.
First edition. pp. c, 516, 17 maps and 22 plans, advertisement for photography pasted down on front endpaper; publisher's red cloth gilt, very slightly worn; overall a very good copy.
