In the appendix Le Messurier lists the kit required by a gentleman intending to make a similar journey. It includes: a dress suit, 4 white ties, 1 case miniature medals, pepper-and-salt riding breeches strapped with black moleskin and gaiters, 3 silk handkerchiefs, 1 pair wire goggles, and dog-skin gloves.
First edition; 8vo (23 x 15 cm); 3 folding colour maps, 15 full-page plates, armorial bookplate to front pastedown, some very light scattered spotting to first few gatherings largely unopened; publisher's purple cloth, gilt lettering to spine, slight fading to spine, a near fine copy; xvi, 320pp.
