Complete in twenty-one volumes, translated into English and edited by Louise and Aylmer Maude, and with Maude's biography of Tolstoy serving as volumes I and II.

This set was published to celebrate the centenary of Tolstoy's birth. Each volume features an introduction from various writers, including Hugh Walpole and H. G. Wells. 1st thus, 'Centenary' edition; 21 volumes, 8vo (195 x 140mm); each illustrated with frontispieces/photogravures, title pages divided by tissue-guards, occasional offsetting to ffeps, no inscriptions, overall pages are clean and bright; publisher's orange cloth with gilt titles to spines, original, unclipped dust-jackets, some dust soiling and rubbing to extremities, minor chip that on Anna Karenina, overall a handsome set in very good condition.
