Mulder was a Dutchman, Professor of Chemistry at the University of Utrecht. His work was translated into German, and the above English edition is a translation from the German by Dr. H. Bence Jones. It is a conscientious and original contribution to the study of the subject, but many of Mulder's definitions have now been proved to be quite erroneous' (Simon, p.9).

First edition; 8vo (18 x 11.5 cm); publisher's purple blind-tooled cloth, spine lettered in gilt, spine and edges faded, cloth a little limp, top-edge unopened towards rear; xii, 390, [2]pp.
