Fine, exceptionally fresh copy of the first edition of this handsome large format work recording the tour of the future Tsar Nicholas II through Russian Siberia, India, Tibet, China, South-East Asia and Japan. The journey ended in the Russian Far East with the opening ceremony of the Trans-Siberian Railway. On the return back to St Petersburg, the Tsarevich and his fellow traveller Ukhtomskiy started work on publishing their account of the trip. The Russian edition was published in 1893-1897, and proved so popular that the work was translated into English, French, German and Chinese.
