Ze'ev Raban, born Wolf Rawicki (1890 -1970) was a leading painter, decorative artist and industrial designer of the Bezalel school, and considered to be one of the founders of the Israeli art world. he was born in Lodz, Ploland, studied there, then in Munich, Paris and Brussels, then left Europe in 1912 to join the Bezalel School of Art in Jerusalem, influenced by Boris Schatz, the founder of Bezalel. His illustrations show an eclectic mix of European and Oriental styles, as can be seen in his biblical works, which include the Book of Ruth, Song of Songs, Book of Job, the Passover Haggadah and the offered title.
10 colour plates (plate size 16.3 x 25.3 cm), each matted and tissue guarded, loose as issued, housed in a portfolio; spine of portfolio cracked, inner paper pocket with tears and corners rubbed, prints in fine condition.
