New York, Art of this Century, 1999
As Chillida experimented with his sculptural work he increasingly began to make engravings and collages, which would become fundamental to his creative process. For this work, Chillida took inspiration from the didactic works of Parmenides, the Greek philosopher and poet. The book was a result of a five-year collaboration between the artist and Art of This Century, the Parisian publishing company directed by Sandro Rumney, grandson of Peggy Guggenheim, which specialises in such commissions.
Limited edition, number 85 of 100 copies from a total edition of 121, folio (41.5 x 31 cm); six original reliefs on handmade Eskulan paper, each signed and numbered in pencil, loose in the original bland stamped chemise, illustrated clamshell box and wooden box with sliding lid, a fine copy.
