This is a remarkable account of Hillary and Lowe's next adventure after their successful Everest triumph. This expedition's objective was to explore and map as much as possible of the unknown Himalayan region aroung the Barun valley and to climb various difficult peaks which they managed to achieve against considerable odds. There were many dramatic incidents including a crevasse rescue of an expedition member, illness and injury high in the mountains. Norman Hardie was also a member of this expedition.
First edition. 4to (25 x 19cm), 48 pages of black and white illustrations, full page sketch map, signed by Hillary and Lowe with the signature of norman Hardie tipped in onto title page, some slight spotting to preliminary pages; publisher's blue cloth gilt, original pictorial dustwrapper, slight wear to edges; overall a very good copy; 71pp of text.
