A smart copy of this important work recounting Commander Andrew Foote's (1806-1863) efforts to counter the slave trade. He commanded U.S.S. Perry of the American Navy in his mission to combat the African slave-trade and this account by him stirred many to the anti-slavery cause in the years before the Civil War.
