London, William Heinemann, 1914
The first English language edition was translated by Fred Wishaw and published in London by Vizetelly & Company in 1886, with Thomas Crowell publishing the same translation in America later that same year.
First edition thus, first impression; 8vo; ownership inscription to front free endpaper, bookplate to front pastedown, light spotting and offsetting to endpapers, else unmarked internally; publisher's red cloth, gilt titles and decoration to spine (oxidised but legible), blindstamped circular device to upper and lower covers, minor rubbing to corners and extremities, cloth a touch darkened with occasional small mark, lower edge untrimmed; very good overall.
