This book was published to coincide with the exhibition Mexico City 1941: Photographs by Helen Levitt, which opened at the Center for Creative Photography, University of Arizona (November 1997 - January 1998), before travelling to the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University (March - May 1998).

First edition, number 54 of 200 copies signed on the colophon; 4to (267 x 212 mm, 10½ x 8¼ in); black-and-white photographs printed in offset, text in English and Spanish; beige endpapers, grey cloth-covered boards, titles on spine in gold, photo-illustrated dust-jacket, light green and black, publisher's grey cloth-covered board slipcase, titles on upper side in gold, small mark on lower side otherwise a fine copy; 141, [3]pp.
