Isaac Asimov (1920-1992) published over 500 works before his death in 1992. Computers formed part of the How Did We series commissioned by Walker Books with the intention of making science accessible to all ages. 'His nonfiction made complex subjects understandable and inspiring to the general reader and even inspired some to pursue a career in the sciences' (ODNB).
First edition, first impression; 8vo (21.5 x 15 cm); numerous illustrations by David Wool; publisher's red cloth, spine lettered in gilt, unclipped pictorial dustjacket, one small closed tear to jacket upper margin, otherwise near fine.
