This Haggadah was printed with a frontispiece portrait of Rabbi Solomon Hirschell (1762-1842), who was the Chief Rabbi of Great Britain in the years 1802–1842. He is best remembered for his unsuccessful attempt to stop the spread of Reform Judaism in Britain by excommunicating its leaders.
First edition; 4to (26 x 21 cm); contemporary brown boards with gilt title to spine, staining to leaves and some creases to edges. 26 ll.
