Ligaments of the Elbow is from the series Anatomy. Basquiat created 'Anatomy' as a set of 18 screenprints of different parts of the human body in 1982. Each one of the 18 images is signed in pencil and numbered [1-18] on the verso as well as numbered from the edition of 18 (there were also seven artist's proofs) for example 16/3 which stands for the 3rd impression out of 18 of the 16th image. The set was printed by Jo Watanabe, New York, published by Annina Nosei Gallery, New York.
