The first edition of this important textbook by the father of the economist John Maynard Keynes.

Keynes senior, John Neville (1852-1949), was lecturer in moral sciences at Cambridge from 1883 to 1911. His second book, The Scope and Method of Political Economy, 'systematically analysed the methodological debates dividing economic theorists and undermining the scientific credentials of their discipline. Writing from the perspective of the new Cambridge school of economics (founded by Marshall), Keynes clarified contentious issues and explained the approach adopted by leading contemporary theorists, in Europe and the USA as well as Britain' (ODNB).

First edition; 8vo (19.5 x 13 cm); old bookseller's ticket to front pastedown, a little toned; publisher's burgundy cloth, covers ruled in blind spine lettered in gilt, rough cut with top-edge occasionally unopened, a little rubbed, very good; xiv, 359, [1].
