Scarce work published to benefit victims of the famine in the Volga region with remarkable illustrations by Vera Aleksandrova in a Cubist style. Kusikov, along with Esenin, Shershenevich and Mariengof was one of the founders of the Imaginist poetry movement. The avant-garde group wanted to distance themselves from the Futurists and formed their own collective in 1918. Vera Aleksandrova (1902-1930) studied at Vkhutemas and consequently became close to Cubist painter Nadezhda Udaltsova. Aleskandrova and Kusikov collaborated on a number of works together but Iskandar Name is undoubtedly their most successful. The first edition was published in 1921 and was also limited to 500 copies.

Second edition, one of 500 copies, this unumbered, folio (33.5 x 26.4 cm); three full page chromolithographs after Aleksandrova plus a portrait of the author, small tear repaired to a couple of leaves; original lithographed cloth-backed boards, minor wear to boards, a very good copy.
