The book is really two separate narratives: the first a sort of cultural tour of Soviet Russia in the 1920's; the second covering the trade route from Sikkim to Gyantse and the difficulties of gaining permission to visit Tibet.
First edition. 8vo, (24 x 17 cms), pp.xvi, 328, illustrated with drawings and photographs, mostly by the author including coloured frontispiece, original green cloth gilt, dust wrapper (lightly soiled, short splits), a very good copy.
