Mansfield Park
Stock Code 115423
London, J.M. Dent & Sons, Ltd, [Circa 1910].
Taken from the poverty of her parents' home in Portsmouth, Fanny Price is brought up with her rich cousins at Mansfield Park, acutely aware of her humble rank and with her cousin Edmund as her sole ally. During her uncle's absence in Antigua, the Crawfords arrive in the neighbourhood bringing with them the glamour of London life and a reckless taste for flirtation
8vo (196 X 123 mm); colour frontispiece, decorative title-page, a further 15 colour plates; slight age-toning to paper, else near-fine; publisher's light green cloth, the spine decoratively blocked in gilt, the upper cover in red, a fainting blue 'blooming' to loweer part of upper board, which doesn't appear to be a stain but more probably a reaction to the binding glue used, illustrated endpapers, offsetting and mottled, more so to upper set, otherwise very good and internally near-fine.
