Limits and Renewals was written in the last decade of Kipling's life, in a period marked by ill-health and declining literary production. Nevertheless, the work contains many of his most well-regarded short stories including, 'Dayspring Mishandled', and 'The Church that was at Antioch', which 'show Kipling's art in its richest maturity' ODNB).
Number 18 of 204 copies printed on Japan paper and signed by the author; 8vo (22 x 15 cm); portrait frontispiece, signed and numbered in pen to dedication leaf; publisher's half blue morocco, blue cloth, covers ruled in gilt, gilt spine in 6 compartments to a design of flower and elephant motifs, top-edge gilt, other uncut, minor wear to extremities, top-edge of cloth slightly faded, pencil annotations to endpapers, one or two spots to fore-edge, very good plus.
