Sinigaglia was the first great Italian climber in the Dolomites and The Dolomites were considered to be the most difficult Alpine mountains to climb. The author was by profession a musician and composer and he eventually died of a heart attack on the eve of being sent as slave labour to Nazi Germany.
First edition in English, 8vo., number 21 of 30 copies on Japan paper, signed by the publisher, 224 pp., 39 plates including frontispiece with tissue guard after photographs by Vittorio Sella and others, folding coloured map, half green morocco, gilt lettered decorated spine with raised bands, gilt top, others untrimmed, light fade to spine, a fine copy.
