The Abbey copy. Rare. Robert Smith, a Scot, served in India. The plates are of a high quality, depicting a full range of Indian trades and society, and also include 2 Burmese subjects. He is presumably the same Robert Smith reknowned for his fine views of Prince of Wales Island which were engraved by William Daniell.

First edition; 12mo (18.5 x 11 cm), plates only, 44 fine hand-coloured soft-ground etchings, a little soiled and stained, one or two plates shaved, modern half calf gilt, a good copy.
