Poster of an anti-Semitic board game based upon the 'Le Errant Juif' [The Wandering Jew] by Eugene Sue.

In the game the players travel the 63-spaces route of the wandering Jew, from Jerusalem to Paris. Based on the 16th-century 'Game of the Goose' this wondering Jew game was inspired by the French novelist Eugène Sue's series of novels, published in ten volumes the years 1844–45, and proved to be wildly popular at the time. The author himself is depicted and named in the lower left corner. The first known mention of the 'Game of the Goose' comes from the second half of 16th century when Francesco de Medici, Grand Duke of Florence, who sent a copy of the game to King Philip II of Spain and it caused a great excitement at the royal court. Subsequently the game spread out across Europe.

The distributor of the offered game in Amsterdam was De Erve Wijsmuller, as noted on the print.
