The editor Thomas Park (d.1834) was a poet in his own right, but is better known for his successful career as editor of the Bibliotheca Britannica.
First edition thus; 54 vols, 16mo (13 x 8.5 cm); separate title-pages, numerous engraved plates including frontispieces; contemporary straight-grained red morocco, panels ruled in gilt with inner floral borders, gilt spine in 4 compartments, all edges gilt, minor wear to extremities, occasional slight offsetting, otherwise internally clean, an attractive, near fine set.
