To mark the centenary of women's suffrage in Britain the first statue of a woman has today been unveiled in London's Parliament Square. Splendidly rendered in bronze by sculptor Gillian Wearing, Millicent Fawcett now stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the likes of Sir Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi outside the Palace of Westminster.
