Collection: Scott's 'Discovery' Expedition to the Antarctic | by Julian MacKenzie

The Discovery Expedition (1901–1904), Britain’s first major Antarctic venture, achieved remarkable scientific and geographic milestones despite limited funding and inexperience. Led by Robert Falcon Scott, it reached a new furthest south, charted the Transantarctic Mountains, and discovered the Polar Plateau.

Highlights include Scott’s narrative The Voyage of the ‘Discovery’ (1905), the beautifully illustrated Natural History volumes (1907–1912), and Shackleton’s humorous South Polar Times. The rare Album of Photographs and Sketches (1908) remains one of the most visually striking Antarctic records.
