With provenance for the diplomat George Bosanquet (1791-1866), eldest son of Jacob Bosanquet (1755-1828) who served as chairman of the East India Company on three occasions in 1798, 1803 and 1811.
First edition, 4to (30.5 x 24.5 cm); armorial bookplate to front pastedown, 105 engraved plates including frontispiece depicting Ganesh, title in Hindi and English, with index and errata; contemporary half calf and marbled boards, contrasting green calf title piece to spine, title page with offsetting, extremities slightly rubbed, spine faded; xiv, [2], 451, [1]pp.
