1987
Helen Frankenthaler, an integral member of the second wave of Abstract Expressionists, was a trailblazer of the modern print-making movement, endlessly pushing and transcending boundaries through relentless experimentation. Born and raised in New York City, Frankenthaler titles this work 'Broome Street', which is a road in Lower Manhattan that stretches nearly the full width of the island. Through etching, aquatint and drypoint, the artist creates a dark and moody abstract landscape with electric green lines running across, capturing the feel of this dynamic, fast-paced Manhattan street at night.
