Cavalry uniforms. First edition of these fine plates of cavalry uniforms set against attractive backgrounds, all finely hand-coloured. The author (1804-1890) became a general in the French cavalry, having served in Spain and north Africa.
First edition. Large folio (54 x 40 cm), pictorial title, dedication, decorative head- and tailpieces, 13 hand-coloured lithographs after Charles Aubry and Karl Leoillot, of military subjects, each surrounded with a broad border of vignettes, contemporary red morocco backed marbled boards, some slight fading to top edges of boards.
