First edition. 8vo., xx, 299pp., numerous photographic plates throughout (8 in colour), 3 maps and several other illustrations in the text, signed by the author on the title page, previous owner's stamp also on title page, inner hinges slightly loose; publisher's original blue cloth gilt, slight wear to the corners, original pictorial dust wrapper, again slightly worn and faded in parts ; overall a good copy.
