Maria Graham's India was her first book. Graham was an artist who visited India and married the ship's captain shortly afterwards. Together they made another voyage around the subcontinent, stopping to visit temples and ruins inland.
First edition. 4to., xii, 215 pp, hand-coloured engraved frontispiece, 15 engraved plates, light foxing to plates, contemporary half calf gilt, marbled boards, bound by W. S. Smith, Ironbridge, Salop. with his ticket, neatly rebacked by Alan Winstanley of Salisbury with his ticket dated 1969, new endpapers, lightly rubbed, corners worn, a very good copy.
