A bright set of the expedition to Lake Chad, the Congo, and the Nile in current Sudan, by Adolf Friedrich Albrecht Heinrich of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1873-1969). This work often has its hinges and gatherings cracked due to the copious amounts of plates: this set is tight and secure.

Duke Adolf Friedrich led two expeditions into central Africa. The 1910-11 expedition, his second, traversed the area between Lake Victoria and Lake Kivu before turning towards the White Nile. This work is still celebrated today for its detail and images of a previously scantily recorded region. Adolf Friedrich was also the last governor of Togoland in German West Africa, and would be the first president of the National Olympic Committee of West Germany (1949–1951).
