A lovely copy of this scarce work on Monaco. A copy has not appeared at auction since 1972 and very rarely appears on the market.

It has been theorized that H. Pemberton was the pseudonym of "Helen Crookshank" who married, and divorced, a man named Augustus Pemberton Gipps.

First edition; 8vo (20.5 x 14 cm); armorial bookplate to pastedown, discreet blind library stamp to endpaper; publisher's red cloth, blind embossed frame to boards, gilt lettering to spine, spine a little darkened, a very good copy; viii, 366 pp.

Provenance

Provenance: Fothergill (bookplates).
