Sex a Gogo is loosely based on a 1965 film Sanne Sannes made for the Dutch broadcaster VPRO titled Dirty Girl, 'the satirical story of a young woman, Lucia Campert, who has just died and is now reliving her life as a model, stripper, vampire, prostitute and cowboy. She takes revenge on all the men in her life and kills them.'
VPRO decided not to show the film because it was deemed too erotic and sadistic. Sannes also planned a book based on the film, which he described as a 'pop sex' book. Sex a Gogo was published posthumously, with designer Walter Steevensz taking over the project, with a layout reminiscent of the underground press.
First edition; oblong 8vo (159 x 278 mm, 6¼ x 11 in); black-and-white photographs, illustrations, and photomontages printed in offset, design by Walter Steevensz; illustrated laminated paper-covered boards, contents shaken, wear to head and foot of spine and corners, laminate lifting at joints and foot of spine, a very good copy; [192].
