Suzuki Kiyoshi saw this as a continuation of Nagare no uta [A Flowing Song] / Soul and Soul (1972), photographing the now abandoned coal-mining regions and forgotten ceremonies of rural Japan. He received the 14th Domon Ken Award for this book.
