Tver, Tverskoe izdatel'stvo, 1922.
Published in Tver in 1922 Gan's theoretical treatise declares 'uncompromising war on art'. It was the first such work to present constructvism as a coherent artistic ideology and codified the movement into three fundamental principles: tectonics, texture and construction. The typography and design of the book reflected Gan's philiopshy and Lissitzky singled him out for successfully embodying the principles of constructivist book production.
Aleksei Gan along with Varvara Stepanova, Alexander Rodchenko and the Stenberg brothers founded the First Working Group of Constructivists in 1921.
First edition, square 8vo (23.6 x 20.1 cm), internally fresh; publisher's printed wrappers, slight creasing to corners else a fine copy.
