Alec Guinness (1914 - 2000), British actor famous for the variety and excellence of his stage and screen characterisations. Tall and unremarkable in appearance, he played a great range of characters throughout his long career. His trademarks were subtle but telling facial expressions and exquisitely nuanced performances.
